About Me
My name is Sara Short and I am a Senior studying Sport Management at the University of Michigan with minors in Writing, Classical Civilizations, and Law, Justice & Social Change. This past summer I was a Brands and Properties Intern at Wasserman with the AT&T Account. Previously, I was the Chief Diversity Officer of the Michigan Sport Business Conference and the Community Relations Intern with the Cincinnati Reds.
During my senior year, I will be one of the Co-Editors-In-Chief of the Sport Business Association Journal. This involves overseeing nine writers and editing all stories on the website to be consistent with APA-style writing. I am also a Research Assistant for The Center For Sports Venues & Real Estate Development. I work alongside a professor and a Ph.D. student to evaluate sport-anchored developments for clients. This involves gathering data from sources such as the Census Bureau and the Department of Labor to create datasets specific to the project.

This past summer, I was a Brands and Properties Intern at Wasserman. I worked on the AT&T account on two separate teams: Golf and Projects. I worked on valuations of sponsorship assets as well as the creation of datasets to be used in future sponsorship negotiations. I oversaw valuations from start to finish that were presented directly to clients. I also created a presentation on AI and how it can be used in the future of the sport industry.

I am also the Director of Operations and Logistics for the University of Michigan National Panhellenic Council. This involves maintaining the website as well as distributing information to over 4,000 women. As part of the Panhellenic community, I am also an active member in Kappa Delta Sorority, Sigma Zeta Chapter where I served on the bid day committee for two years as well as acting as a recruitment counselor for the Panhellenic community during the 2023 recruitment cycle.

During the Summer of 2022, I was the Community Relations Intern for the Cincinnati Reds. There, I managed gameday activations from the planning side as well as fulfillment. My main projects for the summer were the Reds Country Cares public service campaign for the month of July with organizations in the local area focusing on poverty & hunger and the Strike Out Hunger Food Drive. You can view the TV Spot Here. I was able to learn valuable lessons on customer service and further my education on diversity and community outreach through sports.
As Chief Diversity Officer for MSBC, I worked on incorporating the values of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion across the organization. This included working with our philanthropic partners and across our 5 teams to further our work in creating a more inclusive and equitable society and sports world. I also previously worked as a Head Fan Experience Intern for the University of Michigan Athletic Department. This involved planning and activating promotions across sports to create meaningful experiences for fans. Through my work with both of these organizations, I have learned valuable lessons in leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
I was raised in a military family and graduated from W. T Woodson High School in Fairfax, VA but spent my first two years of High School at The American School in London in London, England. I have also lived in Rome, Italy; Honolulu, Hawaii; and across the United States including Las Vegas, Nevada. These experiences exposed me to a wide variety of people and made me very adaptable and flexible as well as provided me with a unique and invaluable global perspective.
Outside of work and school, I enjoy reading, traveling, going to museums, and spending time with friends and family.
